My Specialties
There are many counselors in Denver, and it is important to find the therapist that is a good match for you! Every individual and family is different in their own way. I believe there is no cookie cutter therapy that fits every client or family. I believe in working with my clients that best fits their needs during that particular time of their life. There are several areas of my practice that I have a special passion in and have listed some of my expertise below.

I am familiar with many tools to help teens, young adults, families and individuals cope with the everyday stresses of life and with more serious incidences which unfortunately can occur. You can get through what you’re going through. Did I say that right? Yep. You can! I have seen it in my clients and the reward is tremendous for them. Being able to reclaim their lives, understand what happened, know the limitations of what they can do about it, and knowing the tenderness with which they can heal through it, is a wonderful feeling.
Have you ever felt alone?
Sure you have. We all have! Therapy can help break that feeling of loneliness by offering you a safe place to be yourself as well as express yourself, to a trusted supporter who doesn’t have memories of the time when… Well, you can probably fill in the blank yourself depending what life situation it was. Family and friends have history (and sometimes baggage). They are great for so many reasons, clearly. Yet, having a counselor in your life could do wonders you never thought possible. Allowing you to simply be. A judgement free zone.
When you meet with a counselor, you want to find someone who is open to anything you might think or say as well as someone who offers advice (when warranted of course) as to how to successfully approach the situations in your life that you deal with day to day. Instead of being in “the dashboard” of your life at all times, engaging in therapy allows you to see a new perspective.
I work with many different age groups and have a special place in my heart for adolescents.
I know what that time in life can feel like. It is tough! And, what better time to have an outside support system as this is the time when many families feel strained, living through the dreaded “teenage years” that many parents feel.
For individuals, I love to use humor and a comforting approach to my work. I seek to bond and understand where you’re coming from and what is affecting you right now.
Together, we can learn what triggers certain unwanted emotions, what relationships may need healing and how to do so, work through a tender situation from the past or discuss your life presently. It’s all up to you and I will be there to guide you through tough emotions into hopefully a lighter feeling of confidence with the direction you want your life to go.
And, when it comes to fellow counselors, I know the struggle.
We are often taking on so much emotional distress from our clients, that no matter what (because we care a lot!), we end up soaking up a bit of it on our own. Shrugging it off because we are professionals (of course), we continue on and often do not acknowledge the toll that our profession can take on us. That’s not to say we wouldn’t change it for the world, never! Just having another professional to lend an ear when your significant other/bestie/mother is busy is also a bonus. It can take the edge off in a way that feels like the other understands you (because I do, I do it every day too!).
