For some people the holidays can be hard, stressful, overwhelming, and it may trigger some mental health issues. There are many ways to “cope with the holidays,” “thrive through the holidays,” “beat the holiday blues,” and so on. One of the biggest support a person can get is from their loved ones, partners, friends, family, even animals.
I have seen my clients, my personal family and friends get through tough times, (not just the holidays) with the assistant, encouragement, and love of others. This is a shout out to the support people in our lives!
These people stand by you, wipe the tears from your eyes, sit with you in anger and confusion, try to comfort you, maybe they miss work, stay up late, sleep on the couch, help track medications, take you to the hospital, visit you in the hospital, take you to counseling and doctor appointments, take the kids to school, practices, walk the dogs, and make sure everyone is fed! You don’t have to face mental health struggles alone.
Thank you to all the support people for understanding mental health and not giving up!
