Happy Anniversary to All!
Yes, that’s right, I believe there is usually an anniversary that is going on. The question is what type of anniversary is it? Some anniversaries may be happier than others, either way it is a time of remembrance.
According to Google (all knowing source), the word anniversary means: “An anniversary is the date on which an event took place or an institution was founded in a previous year, and may also refer to the commemoration or celebration of that event.”
Peek Counseling Celebrates Third Year!
You heard it from Google, it is time to celebrate! This summer I am celebrating my third year since I opened my full time private practice. I can’t believe that it has actually been three years since I left my other job, became an entrepreneur and opened Peek Counseling! Not only is this a time to celebrate my private practice and all the people that have helped me along the way, it is also time to celebrate and remember the people and times I had previous of learning and growing into the therapist I am today. I am also celebrating my future of my continued education and growth in the counseling profession.
What Are You Celebrating?
Now it’s time for you to think about what anniversary you can celebrate! It can be anything. The first summer in your new home, or car, with a spouse, with an animal, a wedding anniversary, a birthday, a graduation, a birth, a death (the celebration of the life that person had), a milestone. If you are having trouble, Facebook now has a reminder of what happened on “this day.” Although, I think it is silly, it does bring a smile to my face when I see it. Today in fact, I was celebrating 9 years since my sister and I became friends on Facebook. What can you celebrate today?
Proud, Honored, Pleased, Gratified….
Oftentimes when we celebrate an event or person, we may experience some of these emotions: honored, pleased, sadness, happiness, it can be a roller coaster of emotions. How can we control that roller coaster?
*Deep Breath
*Take it one step at a time
*Give thanks and honor to others
*Let the emotions to come, don’t block them.
*Remember this is a celebration
Be Proud of Yourself!
Now that you found what anniversary you are remembering and celebrating today, give yourself kudos. Be proud of yourself, your accomplishments, how far you have come, even if you feel like you are starting over. Setbacks are part of growth. Maybe today you start an anniversary! Smile! “Everyday may not always be good, but there is something good in everyday!” And, if you need an extra lift check out my past blog on positivity!
