Having been on both sides of the coach/chair, I have never really thought of my own therapist as having any “issues” nor ever thought about them seeing a counselor of their own.
Did I put them in the super hero category or just never really thought about it in the moment?
Being a counselor myself, I can absolutely answer my own question: counselors need counseling too. We are all human and all have struggles that need to be worked though. Being on the other side can help remind us of the vulnerability our clients often feel in seeking help. It can even help emphasize your practice, reminding you of the important work you do each and every day!
Counseling can make you an even better counselor!
As a therapist, I experience many challenges. Throughout our relationship with clients, they can become upset with us, leave us, challenge us and even present safety issues at times. Carrying the weight of another’s real, and often painful issues can really affect you! By taking some time for yourself with someone you relate to and listens to what’s going on in your own life can be such a relief!
I also believe it is important to do your own work. Owning what’s going on with you and the behaviors in your life is important to moving past them. I will create a safety zone for you to express yourself fully and honestly, helping you find different patterns of thinking and tools to get through life’s ups and downs. And, if you’ve recently experienced any sort of trauma, such as a car accident, divorce, death of a loved one, health scare or any other intense life event, please consider seeing me to start healing through counseling. It’s important and can help you work through difficult memories and current situations.
I admit, I try to counsel myself on my car drives, however, it is extremely hard and I usually end up having an internal battle with myself, getting nowhere.
I’ve found that seeing another counselor is more effective, productive, and refreshing. I believe in the work that I do so why would I not do it myself?!
My door is open to other counselors/therapists in the community that are seeking out counseling for themselves! I enjoy working with other professionals in the field of mental health and, in fact, we often find ourselves laughing during the session. If you are ready to do your own work, show up for yourself, and have a healthier life while healing all at the same time, contact me! I am the counselor for the counselor!
My door is always open and I also offer reduced rates to my fellow counselors!
Has it ever crossed your mind to see a counselor yourself, but shied away instead? It’s worth checking out! I offer a free consultation to make sure that we’re a fit. We have to really match well for our time together to be successful (and fun!!). I love to laugh and use humor in my practice. If you enjoy a good giggle, we may already be on the right track.

I try to make your experience as comfortable as possible, as of course, every session is always confidential to the strictest degree. I know that sometimes our circle can be small in the industry. I promise to always remain completely professional and make sure that you are respected and listened to. I also promise to try to make our visits cheerful and leaving you lighter than when you came in. And, I make it lighter on your pockets too. My rates are at a reduced level for counselors who seek counseling services with me. Making your world lighter is always my goal!
I’ve recently found this specialty in my practice and truly, it has inspired me and put a new light in my love for what I do.
I feel like helping fellow counselors is extremely rewarding, knowing that I am helping my fellow colleagues while also helping our profession by allowing a safe place to grow and see our clients’ perspective at the same time. It’s really a benefit, I think, to always remember how our client feels over there! It is of course, the reason we do what we do and striving to always maintain that human perspective is so important.
I’d love to visit with you to see if we’re a good fit. Please feel free to contact me and schedule a free consultation at your convenience. Remember, my door is always open!
If you’re a counselor who has always wondered what it felt like to be on the other side of the chair/couch, or you’re simply experiencing difficulty in your life, it’s a great time to meet. Knowing our profession and the blessings and challenges it always presents, has made me extremely compassionate to helping other counselors.
I am the Counselor for the Counselor!
Hope to see you soon.
